Irina Kalashnikova is a Russian photojournalist.
Born in Moscow and having lived, worked and traveled in Asia, Africa, North America, South America and Europe she has gained experience of working in difficult conditions and hostile environments.
Irina holds master’s degree in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from the University of Arts London, London College of Communication (2006); Diploma in Photography, Academy of Classic Photography (Moscow 2005), and MA in Social and Political Science from the Moscow State University (2001). Her social science training, political instinct and visual flare create a unique combination that makes her works creative and analytical at the same time.
Her work has been published in leading international and Russian media, such as: Newsweek magazine (Japan, South Korea, Poland, Russia), Days Japan, The Sankei Shimbun (Japan), BBC Online, The Guardian, The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Irish Times, The Scotsman, The British Style Magazine, The Architectural Review (UK); La Repubblica (Italy); Kommersant Publishing House (Russia), The Moscow Times, The European Commission Culture magazine.
Irina also worked as a freelancer for AP news agency in 2007. She has been releasing her work through Getty Reportage and has been a principle London photographer for Kommersant, Russia’s most respected and authoritative daily newspaper. She also works on corporate assignments ranging from World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates and European Commission to Riccardo Crespi Art Gallery/Milan among others.
